Variable-Angle Sensor Module Cessna-172 Wing Strut Mount
Designed and developed a custom wing-strut mounting system for a Cessna aircraft platform featuring:
A fully custom CAD-designed PETG housing with integrated aerodynamic geometry
A quick-lock washer and nut fastening system enabling rapid setup and teardown
Two custom-machined aluminum rotation discs mounted on a dowel-pin pivot and axially constrained using precision dowel caps
A spring-plunger indexing mechanism providing tool-free 15° rotational adjustment increments from -90° to 90°
Reinforced dual aluminum support structures to improve rotational assembly rigidity and overall structural integrity
Full compatibility with the VINS Sensor Module
The mounting system contributed to multiple successful flight tests of Inertial Labs devices, generated reliable test data, and helped determine optimal sensor-module orientation during airborne operation.
